Ingredients

1 pkg New Zealand Spring Lamb – Ground
3 tbsp butter
1 medium yellow onion, peeled and finely chopped
1 jalapeno pepper, finely diced
4 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
3 tbsp curry powder (or garam masala)
1 tsp ground turmeric
2 medium russet potatoes, peeled and cut into ½” cubes
1 cup water
1 cup sweet peas (fresh or frozen)
½ cup fresh cilantro, chopped
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
1 sheet puff pastry

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400ºF
  2. Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat; add onion and cook until onion is soft and
  3. Add jalapeno and garlic and continue to cook until softened.
  4. Add ground lamb, curry and turmeric; cook until the lamb is browned and cooked through.
  5. Add potatoes and water and cook until potatoes are tender.
  6. Add peas and cilantro, taste and season with salt and pepper.
  7. Remove from heat and transfer to a baking dish (approximately 2 quarts or 7”x11”).
  8. Carefully top with puff pastry and cut a few steam vents on the top.
  9. Bake for approximately 20 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
